Recently, when I was asked to run for Lt. Governor on the Democratic ticket for Governor of the State of Minnesota, I was flooded with all the reasons why I should not do this. Then I realized that I cannot complain about the way things are if I am not willing to do something about it.
I have never belonged to a political party so going on the DFL ticket made me think twice. My parents and family have all been democrats. I have voted Republican, Independent and Democratic in past elections and the truth is “I VOTE FOR THE PERSON I BELIEVE IN NOT A POLITICAL PARTY!”
The idea that one party is evil and the other is not is ridiculous! The idea that one party has all the answers and the other doesn’t is also ridiculous! There are good people in both parties!
We need to stop “PARTYING” and get down to Serious Discussions on how to Turn our Economy around, “To GET AMERICA BACK ON TRACK and BACK TO THE BASICS!”
We are not over the crisis; that is truth. We have a window of time to find new solutions and to move in shared sacrifice to strengthen and engage the Minnesota/American people.
We need NEW LEADERSHIP for a NEW DIRECTION!
BOLD NEW LEADERSHIP that is not owned or influenced by the system or the people who got us into this mess! LEADERS WHO SEEK JUSTICE FOR ALL!
SEEKERS OF TRUTH, STANDING IN INTEGRITY. LEADERSHIP WHO KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS TO WALK IN COURAGE, TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT!
We have moved into a new time of global economies where there are global solutions and vast areas of needs to be filled. There is much opportunity for creative solutions to bring exponential growth and wealth back into the hands of the American people.
Overnight computers took us from the industrial age into the information age MySpace, Google, Facebook and Twitter have become social network giants. Goods and services can be created and marketed in hours.
We must not look at what we don’t have; we must look at the current problems we face as the opportunity for new solutions that can change the face of America for the good or the bad depending on the mindset you embrace.
We need to re-evaluate and take a serious look at what has worked and what took us in a direction we did not want to go. To take care of Minnesota/America before trying to save the world. I believe that if we focus on taking care of us and help our own struggling families, friends and neighbors that we in fact will be stronger community to help the world.
In looking for solutions to the current budget problems; we need to create new markets for current products, export, use, look for alternative solutions within the structure of the systems that are draining the budget and overhaul all our current systems to find abuse and misuse and cut away excess.
Looking for opportunities to shift services provided to the private sector therefore creating new jobs and income and increasing revenue to the tax base. To assess resources and shift usage when necessary. Creating new partnerships with private and public projects, outsourcing.
We need to create new jobs while strengthening those who provide today’s jobs! Incentives to hire, and reduced taxation so that struggling small businesses can continue to work and move us all forward. We need to ask questions and find solutions, Incentives to help companies to do business in Minnesota, to bring new companies here and to prevent those from shutting down or leaving.
I believe in entrepreneurship and that only in America, under the worst financial conditions a man or woman with a dream can move forward with innovation. New technology and industries must be given the incentives necessary to bring new industry to life in Minnesota.
We need a strong infrastructure and I will work hard to secure the necessary funding from all levels of government while looking for innovative ideas for funding, within the private sector. Governmental, Corporate, & Private partnerships looking for creative solutions that impact industry and public welfare.
It is critical that we bring forth the transportation systems we know are needed to advance Minnesota in a global export economy. While preparing and moving towards the future we must strengthen our current system, it is critical to have safe roads and bridges and current repair should be of the highest priority.
WE NEED: Tax, Judicial, Domestic Abuse, Divorce, Child-Support, Welfare, Health Care & Rehabilitation Reform: We need to looking for new alternatives and ways to help people have a better life!
Divorce laws have created an American financial catastrophe affecting every area of life for those involved and those in their communities. I have answers.
We need a welfare system in place to help people when illness or economic troubles come but it should be a temporary solution not a lifestyle. There needs to be incentives to get off welfare. We need to look at other state systems and see what is working. People that are not medically challenged should be required to do something, go to school or to work through exchanging the money they receive for community work. I believe that I have relevant answers and know how to help.
I am against violence of any kind and I will be a strong advocate to help struggling families find the solutions they need in the areas of drug and alcohol abuse, depression and teen suicide. I know from personal experience the price a family pays when a child dies of suicide and I am a strong supporter of Teen Challenge and faith based initiatives. I have seen many changed lives as a result of their programs.
We must find new solutions for the physical care and financial responsibility of parenting; jailing doesn’t work. New solutions and ideas are needed to help parents overcome the trauma of dealing with an ex-relationship so they can maintain and increase the financial stability for their children and live as healthy parents.
Young people who make mistakes have been caught in a litigation trap that when they pay the penalty for the crime they still have dirty records and no one will hire them. We need to help them clear the records and to become productive citizens.
I believe in education and see many new ways of teaching from life experience. I would like to bring awareness to the value of Music and the Arts back. Encouraging active professionals and retired professionals to become involved with the educating of our youth through volunteerism.
I strongly support our Military Men and Women. Currently, I have family and friends children who are now active serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Also, I have siblings that served in Vietnam.
I believe that freedom is never free and that we as a Nation are indebted to our service men and women. That we must fight to maintain the freedoms, rights and liberties that we have been given through the sacrifices of blood from the lives of American men and woman for over 200 years. I believe in supporting our veterans with the tools they need to readjust when returning from war, helping them with PSTD and family counseling and there should be systems in place to protect the families and their businesses when they are called into active service.
To Our Seniors, I have many great ideas to get the aging population active in our communities. Their wisdom is needed and valued.
I will be active in looking for creative immediate solutions for the care and responsibility of our aging population and its many diverse needs. I know from personal experience the responsibilities and problems that come with an aging father who needs help or constant care and the sacrifices made by the adult children. I will be an advocate searching for new solutions.
Alzheimer’s awareness education and seeking medical solutions to this disease is something we will face as a society as the baby boomers grow older and I want to help find the creative solutions to providing quality care and in protecting them.
I believe in preventative medicine, alternative medicines and organic farming. I would like to evaluate and see Minnesota farmers take the lead in bringing organic foods to the world. There is a huge market internationally for quality foods. Our farmers can be industry leaders in finding new solutions to providing quality organic food to the world while protecting Minnesota’s natural resource of 10,000 lakes of water. We need to address the chemicals used in our food and water systems that are creating an ever increasing burden on our lives and the health care system.
I have sat at the bedside when losing loved ones to melanoma cancer, brain aneurysms, and brain cancers. I believe that we need to look into the sudden rise of brain cancers and the use of convenient technology that may be contributing to such diseases.
We must prepare the Minnesota people with education and awareness of what to do in case of catastrophic emergencies. Helping our people to be prepared, educated in survival, skills awareness and epidemic education.
I got in this race because we need a new outlook and strategy for the problems we face. I have a lifetime of experience that very few in the political arena can touch. I have solutions because I have done it! I know what worked for me and I know what did not help me. I have answers because I have walked them out and am living proof that anyone who is willing to face the tough stuff can change and rise out of the ashes. I have fresh ideas and solutions to the current problems we face!
We as a people must get back to the basics of helping one another, birthing dreams, vision and bringing hope back into the hearts of the people. To start believing that there is a power greater than the government who will show us the way to restore what has become broken!
I BELIEVE THAT We are the People! And we are part of something greater! Together we will lead the way in showing America that: One voice; One decision with One vote can be a mighty river in the political land of Minnesota and our Nation!
Stand with ME. This is our state, our country!
God Bless Us All, The State of Minnesota and The United States of America.
